How to Pay for CDL Driving School
One of the most common questions we receive at GDA is “How much does it cost for a CDL training?” You have several options for covering your CDL training tuition, from government programs to military benefits, or you can pay outright.
Georgia Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federally funded program. WIOA provides access to join training for dislocated workers, low-income individuals & out-of-school youth. The funds are administered specifically through services geared toward helping disadvantaged citizens obtain meaningful employment, such as truck driving.
Military Benefits
Georgia Driving Academy’s Conyers and Columbus locations are approved for participation in various veteran benefit programs offered through the Veterans’ Administration. Information on eligibility requirements and applications can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. GDA is committed to helping veterans transition into successful careers.
G.I. Bill®
Georgia Driving Academy’s Conyers and Columbus locations are approved to certify veterans for G.I. Bill® benefits. The admissions office will assist students in applying for benefits. The V.A. determines if the student is eligible & the school reports student enrollment and progress. Any benefits for which students are eligible are paid directly to the student by the V.A.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
Tuition Reimbursement
Several of our carrier partners offer tuition reimbursement to GDA grads. Carrier tuition reimbursement relieves new drivers of CDL training costs, usually in exchange for a commitment to drive for the carrier for a set period.
Tuition reimbursement is a great bonus for drivers who have already completed their CDL training and still have a balance left to pay. The school typically reimburses in monthly installments.
Sponsored Training
Some carriers sponsor CDL students’ training. Carrier-sponsored training lets students complete training with little or no upfront cost, as the carrier pays. This payment almost always requires the student to commit to driving for the carrier for a set period after training is complete.
It’s best to think of sponsored training as the carrier investing in the driver, not as giving the driver a gift. They expect a return on their investment in the form of the driver working for them after their training. If you’re comfortable committing to a carrier right out of training, this is a great option when available.
Additional Payment Options
Due to our affordable CDL training, many people choose to pay for their training outright. We accept most major credit cards, as well as personal checks and cash.
