A New Chapter for Georgia Driving Academy

GDA Celebrates New CDL Testing Range

On a beautiful Friday morning, the Georgia Driving Academy (GDA) campus in Conyers was abuzz with excitement as key figures in the transportation and education sectors gathered for a significant milestone. The event, held on July 19 at 1801 Eastview Road, marked the official opening of GDA’s expanded facilities, including a 2.5-acre CDL skills testing range. This expansion allows Georgia Driving Academy to significantly increase its capacity to test CDL students and makes for a better and more convenient truck driver training experience.

Among the distinguished guests were Georgia DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore, FMCSA CDL Program Manager Russell Thompson, and Education Affiliates Regional Vice President Bernie Marth. Together with GDA Campus President Brad Barber, they participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling the start of a new chapter for one of Georgia’s largest truck driver training programs.

This expansion is a win for GDA and a boost to the local economy. It enhances the talent pipeline essential for the trucking industry and demonstrates GDA’s commitment to supporting the infrastructure of Georgia’s supply chain. As GDA continues to grow and adapt to the needs of the industry, it remains dedicated to producing skilled, safety-conscious drivers who are ready to take on the challenges of the road.

The event showcased the modernized skills testing procedures for Class A and B drivers, which GDA has incorporated into its training programs. These advancements are set to increase enrollment potential by 30%, attracting more local companies to engage with GDA graduates. The academy’s partnership with local businesses is expected to solidify its role as a key player in the industry, providing well-trained professionals to meet the growing demand for truck drivers.

Adding to the significance of the day, distinguished guests spoke about Georgia Driving Academy’s operations and its impact on the industry. Current GDA students also attended the ceremony, and they will be the first to benefit from the expanded testing range.

Since its establishment in 1995, GDA has trained over 18,000 professional drivers. Georgia Driving Academy was recognized as an essential service by the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in 2020, underscoring its crucial role during the pandemic and beyond.
